Data Deletion Policy

Last updated: April 18, 2026 · Applies to Riva v1.0.0

Two places, two steps.
Riva keeps your data on your device by default. If you signed in with Google to turn on cloud sync, a copy also lives in Firebase Firestore. This page explains how to delete both.

1. Delete the data on your device

Option A: Clear all data from within Riva

  1. Open the Riva app.
  2. Go to Settings.
  3. Scroll to the Data Management section.
  4. Tap "Clear all data".
  5. Confirm.

What gets deleted:

  • All period and cycle entries
  • Predictions and analytics derived from your entries
  • Notification and reminder preferences
  • Scheduled local reminders

Deletion is immediate and permanent. It does not touch any cloud-synced copy - see Section 2 for that.

Option B: Uninstall Riva

  1. Open your phone's Settings.
  2. Go to Apps (or Application Manager).
  3. Find Riva.
  4. Tap Uninstall.

Android removes the app and all of its app-private storage. Nothing that was only on the device remains.

Note: Uninstalling does not remove any cloud-synced copy from Firestore. If you used Google Sign-In, follow Section 2 as well.

Option C: Export before deleting (recommended)

  1. Open Riva → Settings.
  2. Tap "Export data".
  3. Pick a location to save the CSV file.
  4. Then follow Option A or B.

The CSV file can be opened in Excel, Google Sheets, or any text editor.

2. Delete your cloud-synced data (if you used Google Sign-In)

If you signed into Riva with your Google account, a copy of your cycle data has been written to a Firebase Firestore document keyed to your Google user ID. Deleting on-device data does not remove this copy. Use either of the following to delete it.

Option A: Request deletion by email (recommended)

  1. Send an email to rivatheflow@gmail.com.
  2. Subject: "Delete my Riva cloud data".
  3. Send the email from the same Google account you used to sign into Riva (this is how we verify the request).

We will confirm receipt within 7 business days and permanently delete the Firestore document(s) tied to your Google UID within 30 days, in line with our Privacy Policy.

Option B: Revoke Riva's access via your Google account

  1. Open myaccount.google.com/permissions.
  2. Find Riva in the list of connected apps.
  3. Tap Remove access.
  4. Then send the deletion email in Option A so we can delete the stored document too.

Revoking access stops any further sync but does not on its own delete data already stored.

3. What gets deleted, where

Action Deletes on-device data Deletes cloud copy Reversible?
In-app "Clear all data" Yes, immediately No No
Uninstall Riva Yes, immediately No No
Email request to rivatheflow@gmail.com No (you still need Option A or B above) Yes, within 30 days No
Revoke access at myaccount.google.com No Stops new sync; existing data remains until you email us Partially (you can re-grant access)
Delete the Google account No Yes, Google removes associated Firestore data per its retention rules No

4. What we cannot delete for you

Even if you contact us, we cannot delete:

You are in control of those copies.

5. GDPR & CCPA

GDPR - Right to erasure (EU / UK / EEA users)

CCPA - Right to delete (California residents)

6. Children's data

Riva is intended for users aged 13 and above. If you are a parent or guardian and want us to delete cloud-synced data belonging to a child, email rivatheflow@gmail.com with the associated Google account email; we will delete it without requiring further proof.

7. Verifying the deletion worked

On-device

  1. Open Riva after clearing data.
  2. Check that the calendar is empty and no cycle stats appear.

Cloud

  1. After we confirm deletion by email, sign back in with the same Google account.
  2. The app should start as if it were fresh - no historical cycles should sync back.

8. Frequently asked questions

How long does deletion take? On-device: immediate. Cloud: confirmed within 7 business days, completed within 30 days.
Can I recover data after deletion? No. Deletion is permanent. Export to CSV first if you want a copy.
Do you keep backups? We don't run our own backups. Cloud data lives in Firestore and is subject to Google's standard retention and deletion timelines after we issue the delete.
Does uninstalling delete the cloud copy? No. If you used Google Sign-In, follow Section 2 as well.
Can I delete only some cycles? Yes - in the app you can delete individual period entries from the calendar. "Clear all data" removes everything at once.
What if I never signed in? Then you never had a cloud copy to begin with. In-app "Clear all data" or uninstalling is enough.

9. Contact

Target response time: 7 business days.

10. Updates to this policy

We may update this Data Deletion Policy to reflect new features, comply with new regulations, or clarify processes. Changes will be indicated by the "Last updated" date at the top of this page.
