The app is designed to work 100% offline, and all your menstrual cycle data remains on your device.
Introduction
Riva ("we", "our", or "the app") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how Riva handles your personal information.
Information We Do NOT Collect
- Personal identification information
- Health data from other apps
- Location data
- Usage analytics
- Crash reports (unless you opt-in)
- Advertising identifiers
- Device information
- Any data transmitted to external servers
Local Data Storage
All menstrual cycle data you enter is stored exclusively on your device using a SQLite database. This includes:
- Period start dates
- Period duration
- Cycle length
- User preferences (notification settings, cycle defaults)
This data:
- Remains on your device only
- Is never transmitted over the internet
- Is never shared with third parties
- Is never backed up to cloud services (unless you enable Firebase — see Optional Features)
Permissions
Riva requests the following permissions:
Notifications
- Purpose: To send local period reminders
- Data: Reminders are scheduled locally on your device
- Internet: No internet connection used for notifications
Storage
- Purpose: To save your cycle data in local SQLite database
- Location: Internal app storage on your device
- Access: Only Riva can access this data
No Cloud Sync (Default)
By default, Riva works completely offline:
- No internet connection required
- No data sent to servers
- No cloud storage
- No account creation
Optional Features
Google Sign-In (Currently Disabled)
If enabled in future versions:
- Used only for optional cloud backup
- You control when to sign in
- Cloud sync is opt-in only
- Can use app without signing in
Firebase (Currently Disabled)
If enabled in future versions:
- Optional cloud backup of your data
- Requires explicit opt-in
- You control what gets synced
- App works without Firebase
Data Control
You have complete control over your data:
Export Your Data
- Export all cycle data as CSV file
- Available in Settings → Export Data
- CSV file can be saved anywhere you choose
Delete Your Data
- Delete all data from Settings → Clear All Data
- Permanently removes all cycle information
- Cannot be undone
Uninstalling the App
- Uninstalling Riva removes all local data
- No data remains on our servers (we have no servers!)
- No residual tracking
Third-Party Services
Riva does NOT use:
- Analytics services (Google Analytics, Firebase Analytics, etc.)
- Advertising networks
- Social media integrations
- Third-party tracking tools
- Crash reporting (by default)
Children's Privacy
Riva does not knowingly collect information from anyone under 13 years of age. The app is designed for individuals who have started menstruation.
Data Security
Your data is secured through:
- Local device encryption (provided by Android OS)
- No transmission over networks
- No exposure to external threats
- Isolated app storage
Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Access your data (via CSV export)
- Delete your data (via Clear All Data)
- Control what data is stored (you enter it manually)
- Use the app anonymously (no account required)
Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be reflected in:
- Updated "Last updated" date
- In-app notification (for major changes)
- Posted on our website/GitHub repository
Continued use of Riva after changes indicates acceptance of the updated policy.
Compliance
GDPR (European Users)
- No personal data is collected
- No data processing occurs
- No data is transferred outside your device
- Full data control provided to users
CCPA (California Users)
- No personal information sold
- No personal information shared
- Right to delete exercised via app settings
HIPAA
- Riva is not a medical device
- Not subject to HIPAA requirements
- For personal tracking only, not medical diagnosis
